The Beauty World Through the Lens of a Psychiatrist
The inspiration to write The beauty world through the lens of a psychiatrist was probably there from the beginning, at the time I signed on as a beauty consultant. I kept reverting back to the work of the late Barbara Ehrenreich, an investigative journalist who spent time traveling around the country in cognito as a blue-collar employee. Ms. Ehrenreich subsequently recorded her impressions of a different America in her book, Nickel and Dimed. It all seemed so romantic and adventurous, to work on another side in a completely different capacity from your day job.
And I believed that I was wired to give it a try. In this case within the beauty industry given my enduring commitment to being stylish along with having an easy way of relating to people.
This memoir is my journey from a solo private practice into the utterly unforeseen professional world of beauty. Join me as I candidly share how hitting an impasse as a solo psychiatrist led to a positive change.
